Reports To: Assistant Corps Director
 

Job Description:

As the Head Chef, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the culinary needs of our corps are met while on the road. You will lead and collaborate with kitchen volunteers to execute a daily/weekly menu, manage food preparation, maintain kitchen safety and cleanliness, and report on inventory levels. This role requires the ability to manage a shifting kitchen crew and cook for over 200 people four times a day throughout an 11-week pre-tour and tour schedule.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Execute a daily/weekly menu, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks.

  • Lead and work with a rotating staff of kitchen volunteers.

  • Directly oversee the preparation of all meals.

  • Ensure the kitchen adheres to safety and cleanliness standards.

  • Report inventory levels to appropriate personnel.

  • Train volunteers on safety and proper food preparation.

  • Collaborate with administration to ensure quality of life meals for everyone on tour.

  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

 

Requirements:

  • Age: 21 or older.

  • Availability: Full Summer (May-August).

  • 2 or more years of experience in the food industry (tour experience is a plus).

  • 2 or more years of management experience (preferred).

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, punctual, and flexible.

  • Motivated with a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills.

 

 

Location and Schedule:

This position will be on-site with the Spirit of Atlanta Drum and Bugle Corps for the entirety of pre-tour and tour.

Compensation

This position is considered an independent contractor paid position (1099). Compensation will be paid monthly and includes housing, transportation, and food.
