Spirit of Atlanta Announces Jacksonville State University as New Spring Training Home for 2023
ATLANTA, GA - Spirit of Atlanta is excited to announce that it has reached an agreement with Jacksonville State University to serve as its spring training home for the 2023 season. The corps will begin its spring training on May 27th, 2023, and train in-residence through early July before leaving on a 5-week national tour, culminating at the Drum Corps International World Championships in early August. This marks the first time the corps has officially returned to Jacksonville State since the university partnered to operate the drum corps from 2001 to 2008.
During its time at Jacksonville State, the members of Spirit of Atlanta will have access to state-of-the-art facilities, including an indoor and outdoor rehearsal space, dormitory housing, and top-of-the-line athletic training facilities. These amenities will allow Spirit of Atlanta to create a comprehensive training program that addresses all aspects of its members' physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Jacksonville State University is located in Jacksonville, Alabama, approximately two hours west of Atlanta. The university's campus boasts exceptional facilities including a state-of-the-art football stadium, making it the ideal location for Spirit of Atlanta to prepare for the 2023 season. The partnership between Spirit of Atlanta and Jacksonville State University represents an exciting new chapter in the organization's storied history.
Spirit of Atlanta will also be the ensemble in residence for Freddy and Lynda Martin's Spirit Camp, a long running band camp that helps high school and college age performers become better musicians. During the one-week camp attendees will have the opportunity to interact with Spirit members and educators and perform with the drum corps.
